Radiation Oncology Census Database
Eighth Census Database now Complete
For the eighth time since 1996, IMV Medical Information Division has profiled radiation therapy sites in the U.S. The 2009/11 Radiation Therapy Census Database currently identifies approximately 2,370 hospital and non-hospital locations that treat cancer with radiation. Based on responses from the later part of the data collection, it is estimated that in 2010 924,000 courses of treatment with radiation were performed in the United States.
The survey collects data on the types of treatments being performed, courses of treatment and treatment volume, as well as features and manufacturers of installed linear accelerators, IGRT systems, simulators, HDR brachytherapy equipment, and treatment planning units. It also covers equipment buying plans, utilization of radioactive agents for radionuclide and brachytherapy, operational budgets and staffing levels. Site-specific data is available in digital format.
